State of the District Report:
Year End Report_201408260719.pdf
Please see the attached report which Dr. Deo shared with the Board of Education on August 21, 2014. The report is a comprehensive summary of the District's accomplishments for the 2013-2014 school year.
Hillside High School Change
Hillside High School students will return to school this fall and once again experience a traditional schedule. As we prepare students for a challenging curriculum, aligned to the Common Core Standards, it has become evident that students need to see their teachers daily. In fact the state of NJ, Department of Education, recommended we adopt a schedule where there is daily instruction in mathematics and language arts. While block scheduling served our students well during the Core Curriculum Content Standards era, it is believed that daily focus on rigorous content will best support our students. We look forward to a successful academic year at Hillside High School. Once again, we would like to remind you that Hillside High School will start at 8:10 A.M. and the day will end at 2:51 P.M. Should you have any questions regarding the High School feel free to contact the administration at (908) 352-7664 ext 8400.

State Testing Revised!
PARCC Pilot Testing:
A new test called Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers
(PARCC ) is coming to take the place of NJASK and HSPA. The new test is scheduled to be given during the 2014-2015 school year to all students across New Jersey. PARCC was piloted at HL, GW,WOK and HHS. Our objective was to test the technology and get some idea of the format of the new test. The state has informed us the new test will require much more of students than just a test of knowledge. Students will need to problem solve, determine the best answer from a number of correct answers, and other skills not tested on previous tests. The Chromebooks recently purchased for students worked well. Over 300 students were tested with very few technical issues.
